I visited the St. Francis Retreat Center in Located in Dewitt, Michigan during the first week of lent. I attended the “Break Open the Parables” Women’s retreat. I thought that I might not learn very much, because I’ve heard the Parables my entire life. I was wrong! I’m layers deeper in my understanding of what Jesus was telling us. I’m anxious to use the skills they taught us to consider when reading a parable, to see if I can crack open some more of the wonderful treasures and secrets that the parables hold for us. The food was simple, but good. Everyone that worked there was friendly and competent, the fellow attendees were amazing, and our two hostesses were funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. My private room was simple, clean and comfortable. I had a great time, and I sensed that most everyone else did too. I highly recommend this retreat.
